Upcoming Conferences
The Ronald Coase Institute's Beijing Workshop on Institutional Analysis will be held May 20-26, 2012.The workshop, which is co-sponsored with the Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management, is an opportunity for early-career post-doctoral social scientists and advanced graduate students to present their research and interact with leading scholars in new institutional economic. Workshop participants become part of an active and growing global network of workshop alumni. Applications for the Beijing Workshop are due January 20, 2012. The Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics (SASE) will host its 24th annual meeting at MIT (USA), 28-30 June 2012. The program will include a special network on Asian Capitalism focused on five areas: (a) De- or Re-industrialisation? , (b) Innovation, HRM and Knowledge Creation, (c) Beyond Market or State?, (d) The future of Asian Capitalism, and (e) Welfare, Inequalities, and institutional change. Calls for Papers
The Searle Center on Law, Regulation, and Economic Growth is issuing a call for original research papers to be presented at the Fifth Annual Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The conference will be held at the Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago, IL, on 14-15 June 2012. This conference will be an important component of the Searle Center’s expanded entrepreneurship and innovation focus. Conference participants will explore the connections between IP, innovation, and entrepreneurship through empirical and theoretical economic and legal analysis. This interdisciplinary conference will be composed of presentations by leading researchers in economics and law, and participating authors will have their papers formally discussed by leading thinkers in the field. In addition, the conference will draw audiences of academics in economics, law, and business, as well as legal and business practitioners, government officials, and public policy makers. The Economics of Private Partnership Chair is organizing an international conference on"Contracts, Procurement, and Public-Private Arrangements," 30-31 May, 2012, at the Maison de Polytechniciens in Paris, France. This conference focuses on the recent developments in contract theories. Papers are invited on all topics of contract theories including: Relational contracting, transaction costs, renegotiations, incentives, attribution mechanisms, incomplete contracting, contract design, benchmarking, privatization, corruption, institutions. The Walter A. Haas School of Business at the University of California, with support from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, is issuing a call for original research papers to be presented at the Conference on the Law & Economics of Organization: New Challenges and Directions. The conference will be held at the Haas School of Business in Berkeley, CA, on Friday, Nov. 30, and Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012. The purpose of the conference is to take stock of recent advances in the analysis of economic organization and institutions inspired by the work of 2009 Nobel Laureate Oliver Williamson and to examine its implications for contemporary problems of organization and regulation. Empirical research and research informed by detailed industry and institutional knowledge is especially welcome. Conference papers will be published in a special issue of the Journal of Law, Economics, & Organization. Submissions are due March 31, 2012. See the Call for Papers for details.
